The Golden Age of Rally

Alpine Renault A110 1800

The Alpine Renault A110 1800 on display is the car in which Bernard Darniche and Alain Mahé secured victory at the 1973 Rally of Morocco, a competition largely contested on the gruelling tracks linking the oases of the northern Sahara Desert - a race so demanding that only 12 of the 72 starters made it to the finish line. Following its victory in the International Manufacturers' Championship in 1971, 1973 marked Alpine's definitive triumph with the Manufacturers' World Championship title, secured thanks to victories at the Monte Carlo Rally (Andruet/Biche), the Rally of Portugal (Thérier/Jaubert), the Rally of Morocco, the Acropolis Rally (Thérier/Delferier), the Rally of Sanremo (Thérier/Jaubert) and the Tour de Corse (Nicolas/Vial).
