If we were to look for a period in rallying history when the sport enjoyed peak popularity thanks to the performance of racing cars that were as spectacular as they were challenging to drive, we would, without much hesitation, think of the Group B era. Some cars from this category have left an indelible mark on enthusiasts: among them, the Lancia Delta S4 undoubtedly holds a special place.
The Lancia S4 on display is the car that finished second overall in the 1986 New Zealand Rally, driven by Markku Alén and Ikka Kivimäki for the official Lancia Martini Racing team; it was subsequently entrusted to the Jolly Club Totip team to compete in the Sanremo Rally, where it finished second overall with Dario Cerrato and Giuseppe Cerri, and in the Valle d'Aosta Rally, where it took first place with the same crew.
